The government of Sindh has agreed to connect every educational board in the province to a secure digital system run by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra). The arrangement sits under the Academic Record Integration Project. A press release issued in Karachi on Monday said Sindh is the first province in the country to sign such an agreement.

Ismail Rahoo, minister for universities and boards, said the link should make it harder to pass off a fake academic certificate or to impersonate a candidate in an examination. Records would be kept in digital form and could be verified. Verified certificates are to be offered on the Pak ID mobile application, and officials will develop a way to give every student a unique identification number.

What the pact includes

Sindh educational boards, the bodies that conduct school and college examinations and issue certificates, are to be joined to Nadra, the federal authority that keeps Pakistan’s national identity database. The aim is that a student’s academic record can be secured on that system and checked when someone needs to confirm it.

Nadra official Aamir Ali Khan said the authority would extend the integration facility to all educational boards without charging them. In his words, the initiative is expected to improve “the secure management, verification and accessibility of academic records.”

The press release speaks of all boards in the province. It does not name them one by one, and it does not give a date for when the connection will start or when older certificates will be brought in.

How students will show a record

Pak ID is the mobile application through which a verified academic certificate is to be made available. For a student who needs to show a credential, that is the digital route the agreement describes. The statement does not mention a fee for using the app, and it does not say that every past result will appear immediately.

Alongside the app, a mechanism is still to be developed to assign a unique identification number to each student. The press release says the number is for accurate identification and verification of academic records. Mr Rahoo linked secure digital records to preventing fake certificates and exam impersonation, and called the pact an important step toward digitalisation and a more transparent examination system. He also said the province was taking practical steps to modernise education in line with digital requirements, and to strengthen public confidence that academic credentials are genuine.

What remains to be set out

Sindh educational boards are being connected for record-keeping and verification. The press release does not say Nadra will conduct examinations or take over the work boards already do. Monday’s announcement is limited to integration, secure management, and access to verified certificates.

No payment by students is mentioned. The only cost point in the statement is that boards will receive the facility free of charge. Officials presented Sindh as the first province to sign, and they did not announce a matching agreement for any other province.
