Pakistan IT exports in 2026’s opening fiscal quarter reached $1.246 billion, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the country’s central bank. The figure covers telecommunications, computer and information services in July–September of FY2027 and was 17.7% above the $1.059 billion earned in the same period a year earlier — a gain of about $187 million.

The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the official body that tracks software and ICT export remittances, reported the same quarterly total and said the sector posted a trade surplus of $1.04 billion in the quarter, 14.98% higher than a year before.

September lifts the quarter

Monthly receipts continued to climb. SBP data show IT export receipts at $435 million in September of FY2027, after $394 million in August — a month-on-month rise of 10.4%. A year earlier, in September of FY2026, the sector earned $368 million.

PSEB put September 2026 ICT export remittances at the same $435 million level, describing an 18.21% increase on the same month last year and a 10.41% rise from August. From the quarterly total and the two published monthly figures, July receipts work out to about $417 million ($1.246 billion minus $394 million minus $435 million).

Share of services and official framing

IT and telecom services now account for nearly 46% of Pakistan’s total services exports, SBP-linked figures indicate, underscoring how digital sales help earn foreign exchange beyond goods trade. PSEB said the September rise reflects a wider global footprint for Pakistani technology firms and government work to strengthen the digital economy. The Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, it added, is seeking better access to international markets under the government’s digital development agenda.

Officials have also described a broader push to grow software development, freelancing and other digital businesses so the country can earn more from services. PSEB said sustained support for the industry and stronger overseas market access could help keep export growth going.
