The petrol price in Pakistan today is Rs392.66 per litre, after the government cut it by Rs2.71 for Wednesday, October 14, 2026. High-speed diesel (HSD) dropped by 3 paise to Rs396.82 per litre. The revised rates were announced on Tuesday and take effect from Wednesday.
What changed on October 14
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the federal regulator for the oil and gas sector, revised the ex-depot prices, meaning the rates charged at the fuel depot before retail sales. The Petroleum Division said the change reflects global developments, including movements in Platts rates, premiums and incidental costs. Platts is a price-reporting service whose benchmark oil prices feed into Pakistan's calculation.
Petrol had been priced at Rs395.37 per litre before this change, while diesel stood at Rs396.85. On Monday, the government had already cut petrol by Rs2.93 and raised diesel by Re0.61. One headline in the coverage put the diesel cut at 30 paisa, but the move from Rs396.85 to Rs396.82 confirms the 3 paise figure given in the official statements.
The government sets fuel prices daily using a seven-day average of global prices, along with benchmark rates, premiums and other costs. Prices stay unchanged on public holidays, Saturdays and Sundays, so the next revision will come on a working day.
Why prices moved
The import cost of petrol fell to Rs281.88 per litre from Rs284.59, while the import cost of diesel held at Rs289.29. The Petroleum Division said government levies and profit margins remained largely steady. Petrol and diesel each carry a Petroleum Levy of Rs80 per litre and a Climate Support Levy of Rs5 per litre.
Global oil markets also shaped the decision. The average refined petrol price over the previous seven days eased to USD 130.63 per barrel, from USD 132.17 on October 13, while diesel held at USD 108.43 per barrel. On Tuesday, Brent crude futures fell $2.02 to $104.63 a barrel by 10:49 GMT, as traders weighed attacks on Saudi Arabia and the prospect of extra diesel supply from Russia.
Dealers receive a fixed margin of Rs9.98 per litre and oil marketing companies Rs7.87 per litre. The Inland Freight Equalisation Margin, which spreads transport costs across the country, is Rs7.93 per litre for petrol and Rs4.71 for HSD.
