Banking Mohtasib Pakistan Sirajuddin Aziz said on Monday that complainants are to receive Rs1.2 billion under decisions of his office. In a statement in Karachi, he said his office had decided 29,001 complaints in favour of customers from January to September 2026, involving Rs1.2 billion.

The Rs1.2 billion is the combined relief on complaints decided in those nine months. He did not name any bank, and he did not present the sum as a payment owed by one institution alone.

What the Banking Mohtasib decided

The Banking Mohtasib is the official who takes up complaints that customers file against banks. Aziz said 29,001 such complaints were decided in favour of customers in the first nine months of 2026, with Rs1.2 billion awarded to the complainants. In plain terms, this sum is that award: the sum banks are to pay to complainants from cases decided in this period.

People looking for the bank fine news should treat the Rs1.2 billion as compensation decided across many cases. The statement said those 29,001 complaints were decided in favour of customers. It did not name the banks or split the amount by the kind of case.

How many new complaints arrived

Over the same January to September stretch, the office received 33,625 new complaints. Of that intake, 5,927 arrived through the Prime Minister's Portal, the channel used to send a grievance to the prime minister's office.

New complaints outnumbered the cases closed in the same nine months: 33,625 came in, against 29,001 decided in favour of customers. The excess is 4,624. Aziz did not give a number for older complaints still waiting from before January.

Those 5,927 portal complaints are about 17.6 percent of the 33,625 new cases, a little more than one in six. The statement did not say which cities sent the most complaints, or which banking services drew them.

What customers should do now

He asked people to keep account details and the rest of their financial credentials private, and not to pass them to anyone else.

He also told customers to leave a link on a mobile phone unopened unless they already know the sender is genuine. The statement did not announce a new regulation, a last date for payment, or another briefing.

For someone with a complaint already decided, any relief sits inside the Rs1.2 billion awarded for this period. For someone who has only just complained, the office is still receiving cases faster than it is closing them.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Banking Mohtasib ne complain karne walon ko kul Rs1.2 billion ka award diya hai. January se September 2026 tak 29,001 shikayaton ka faisla ho chuka hai. Isi dauran 33,625 nayi complaints aayin, jin mein se 5,927 wazir-e-azam ke portal se thin. Apni bank details kisi teesre shakhs ko na batayein, aur mobile par anjaan link na kholen.

Corrections: ProPakistani says the Banking Mohtasib decided 29,001 complaints in favour of customers, involving Rs1.2 billion. Removed a line that quoted Sirajuddin Aziz calling fraud a significant risk. That wording is not in the statement. He asked customers not to share account details, to avoid unverified links, and to report suspicious calls to their bank and the NCCIA.
