Markhor IT, playing as MIT Solutions, won the President’s Trophy Grade-I for the first time after beating State Bank of Pakistan’s cricket side (SBP) by 51 runs in the final at Bagh-e-Jinnah in Lahore on Friday. SBP, chasing 237, resumed the last morning on 165 for seven and were dismissed for 185 in the first session after adding only 20 runs.
Experienced all-rounder Khalid Usman led the bowling, finishing with 4-38 from 16.5 overs. Mohammad Ismaeel took two wickets, while Aamer Jamal and Salman Aslam took one each.
How the final morning unfolded
SBP’s hopes rested on overnight batter Mubashir Khan. Ismaeel removed him for 32 off 56 balls. Mohammad Abbas made six before falling, and Khalid Usman dismissed Kashif Bhatti for two to close the innings and confirm the title.
Earlier in the match, MIT Solutions had resumed their second innings at 273 for seven and reached 296 in 74.5 overs. Aamer Jamal made 55 off 81 balls with seven boundaries. That knock followed his seven-wicket haul in SBP’s first innings. For SBP, Test fast bowler Mohammad Abbas took 5-70, and Sirajuddin claimed three wickets.
Day three left MIT on the brink
On Thursday, MIT Solutions had moved within three wickets of the title after SBP closed day three on 165 for seven at Bagh-e-Jinnah Cricket Ground, still 72 runs short of the 237-run target. Hasan Raza top-scored with 73 for SBP, but MIT fought back by taking five wickets for 46. Khalid Usman and M Imran Jr led that fightback, with Aamer Jamal also among the wickets after his seven in the first innings. Abbas’s 5-70 was his 60th five-wicket haul in first-class cricket.
