Quantum Data Technologies Limited (QTECH), a Pakistani company listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), has signed an agreement with China's Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology Co. to bring lithium battery assembly in Pakistan. Under the deal, QTECH intends to introduce and then progressively carry out the local assembly of lithium-based battery energy storage systems. The company disclosed the agreement to the PSX on October 14, 2026, and the sources do not say when assembly will start.
What the agreement covers
The two companies describe the arrangement as a strategic cooperation and market development framework. They plan to develop battery energy storage solutions for residential and commercial users, industrial facilities and utility-scale projects. The target sectors also include data centres, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, electric vehicle (EV) battery infrastructure and other energy-intensive uses.
Energy storage systems are battery units that hold electricity so it can be used later. The sources describe a phased plan rather than a finished production line. They do not give the value of the deal, the share of work each side will do, or the planned output.
Who the companies are
Great Power is a Chinese company that researches, produces and sells batteries, mainly for energy storage, new energy vehicles, consumer digital products, smart homes and smart security. It is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange under code 300438. The disclosure put its market capitalisation at approximately $4 billion as of October 13, 2026.
QTECH described itself as a data and AI-driven technology company. In its notice, the company said reliable energy supply and energy security are essential to Pakistan's technological development. It called the deal an important step in its wider strategy to create long-term shareholder value.
The agreement is not the only battery tie-up announced this month. Kohinoor Energy Limited signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU, an early agreement that does not create firm obligations) with China's Hebei Juhang Energy Technology Group earlier in October. The sources do not describe the scope of that arrangement.
What happens next
QTECH said further material developments would be disclosed in line with applicable regulations, so buyers and investors should watch for stock exchange filings. The sources give no launch date, product list or price. That means lithium battery assembly in Pakistan is still at the announcement stage, and the next concrete details are expected to come from the companies themselves.
Aasan alfaaz mein
QTECH ne China ki Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology ke saath lithium battery assembly ka agreement kiya hai. Plan yeh hai ke pehle energy storage systems introduce hon aur phir dheere dheere local assembly ki jaye. Abhi is ka koi start date, product list ya price nahi bataya gaya. Aam log filhal battery ke daam mein koi tabdeeli nahi dekhenge, lekin aage chal kar local options aa sakte hain.
