Punjab’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme has completed construction of 128,718 houses, officials told a special progress meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The same briefing recorded that more than 225,000 loans have been disbursed under the provincial housing loan programme.

Maryam Nawaz convened the session to review how the initiative is moving against its targets and directed officials to keep delivery on course. Officials said applicants had already received more than 225,000 loans, while 128,718 homes had reached completion.
The meeting was also informed that 171,597 beneficiaries had been paid their second loan instalment. Construction on another 62,600 houses was described as advancing rapidly towards completion, indicating a large pipeline still under build.
Loan recovery and fresh applications
Officials placed the recovery rate on loan instalments at 97.6 per cent, with Rs22.29 billion recovered to date. That figure suggests most borrowers under the scheme are meeting repayment schedules as reported to the provincial leadership.
The meeting approved inviting fresh applications under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme. No timetable or portal steps were set out in the briefing summary beyond that decision to reopen intake.
Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat update
Separately, the application process for the Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat scheme has been completed. Under that initiative, loans worth Rs1.216 billion have been disbursed to 3,055 applicants, and construction or expansion work on 532 houses has been finished.
Taken together, the figures present a dual picture: a large completed stock under the main Punjab housing loan drive, continued building on tens of thousands of sites, and a second, smaller programme whose applications have already closed.
