Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the utility that supplies piped natural gas in much of northern Pakistan, will temporarily cut gas to several areas of Lahore from 9:00pm on Thursday, 29 October, until 6:00am on Friday, 30 October. The company said the overnight halt is needed so crews can carry out maintenance on the gas network linked to Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VII.
Which areas lose supply
A public notice from SNGPL lists all blocks of DHA Phases V, VI and VIII among the localities that will be without gas during the window. Other residential areas in Lahore are also covered by the same notice, according to the company. Households and businesses in those zones should expect no piped gas for cooking, heating water or other uses until the restart time given in the notice.
Why the shutoff is happening
SNGPL said the suspension is required to facilitate maintenance work on the gas supply system at DHA Phase VII. Planned network work often needs a controlled stoppage so lines can be isolated safely. The company framed the outage as temporary and tied to that specific job rather than a citywide shortage.

Residents have been advised to make alternative arrangements for their gas needs while the supply is off and to take precautionary measures to avoid inconvenience. That typically means finishing cooking before the cut-off, keeping electric or other backup options ready where available, and treating appliances carefully when pressure returns after 6:00am on Friday. Anyone unsure whether their street is on the list should treat the DHA Phase V, VI and VIII blocks named in the notice as confirmed affected zones and check neighbourhood advisories for other localities.
