A Pakistan national team led by the Institute of Space Technology (IST), the country’s specialised space-engineering university, is taking part in the International Space Games 2026 in Moscow. The gathering brings together teams from eight countries for a week of practical work in space engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) — computer systems that learn from data — and mission operations.
The programme runs from 26 October to 1 November. Organisers frame it as a chance for young participants to tackle space-related challenges, build technical skills and work with peers from other countries.
What the Pakistani team is doing
After the opening ceremony, the Pakistani delegation moved into hands-on sessions. Those sessions cover space engineering, mission operations, robotics and AI. The group is also taking part in an immersive Mars-habitat experience: a simulated setting meant to echo conditions beyond Earth and the practical problems of living and working on Mars.
Officials present the IST-led visit as part of Pakistan’s wider involvement in international space education and technology. Delegates can exchange knowledge, show what they can do and deepen ties in emerging space science and technology fields.
Who is representing Pakistan
The Pakistani team includes Dr. Rehan Mahmood, Maheen Zulfiqar, Mohammad Daniyal Hasnain, Talha Zubair, Humail Amir Nawaz, Syeda Maryam Murtaza Naqvi, Ayesha Jamil, Fakhar Arooj, Alishba Tanveer, Maheera Fatima and Hafiz Muhammad Abdullah.
