Turkey's parliament has approved a bill ratifying a three-nation defence pact among Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Lawmakers passed the legislation, which approves the agreement that reports call the Mecca Joint Defence Pact in some cases and the Makkah Agreement on Joint Defense in others. The names refer to the same arrangement.
Signed at a summit in Makkah
The three countries signed the agreement at a trilateral summit in Makkah on 7 August, according to posts reporting the signing. Makkah is the city in Saudi Arabia where the summit was held. Under Turkish procedure, the parliamentary bill is the step that approves the pact on the Turkish side.
Where Pakistan stands
Pakistan is one of the three signatories, alongside Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. The arrangement is a joint pact among these three states rather than a bilateral agreement. The Turkish vote is the parliamentary action reported so far, and the reports do not describe further steps by the other two governments.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Turkey ki parliament ne Turkey, Pakistan aur Saudi Arabia ke darmiyan Makkah defence muahide ko manzoori de di hai. Yeh muahida 7 August ko Makkah mein teen mulkon ke summit par sign hua tha. Abhi tak is ka aam Pakistani ke rozmarra kharche, petrol ya bijli ki qeemton par koi wazeh asar nahi bataya gaya. Is ka matlab yeh ho sakta hai ke teen mulkon ke defence taluqat aage barhein.
