A Hazara Motorway accident early on Friday left at least eight people dead and 30 others hurt, after a passenger bus crashed into a dumper truck near the Havelian Interchange, rescue officials said. A dumper truck is a heavy tipper vehicle used to haul earth and construction material. The collision happened in the early morning, and the injured were moved to hospitals for care.

The passenger bus had come from Gilgit and was headed for Rawalpindi when the crash occurred. Rescue 1122, the emergency service, said early information pointed to a burst tyre, which may have sent the bus out of the driver's control before it struck the truck. That explanation has not been confirmed and should be treated as an initial account.

Rescue operation and casualties

Rescue 1122 in Abbottabad moved seven ambulances and one rescue vehicle to the site. The operation was coordinated by Hafeezur Rehman, the District Emergency Officer, and the service said it was completed successfully. Rescue staff gave first aid to the injured before taking them to nearby hospitals.

Where the dead and injured were taken

Four of the dead were taken to Ayub Medical Complex, three to a District Headquarters Hospital in Abbottabad, and one to a facility in Havelian. The dead were reported to be residents of Gilgit, the northern city the bus had left.

Of the 30 hurt, five were children and six were women, and all were moved to Ayub Medical Complex for treatment. Four injured people are in critical condition, according to the rescue statement.

Earlier bus crashes and next steps

The Hazara Motorway accident came a day after a bus and truck collision near Pakpattan, which killed 11 people and injured 33. Last week, a passenger bus fell into a drain in Hafizabad district in Punjab, killing five and injuring 27.

Details such as the driver's condition and the exact point of impact have not been reported yet. The death toll is given as a minimum, and four critical patients remain under treatment, so the figures could still change as hospitals update their records.

For now, the tyre burst is an early account rather than a confirmed cause of this Hazara Motorway accident, and the injured remain under treatment in hospitals.
