Meta Platforms said on Monday it plans to raise up to $95 billion in equity to fund costly AI-related expansion of data centres, cloud computing power and other infrastructure, as it races to keep pace with rival artificial-intelligence firms.
The social media company said it launched public offerings of about $35 billion in common stock and convertible preferred stock. Separately, it said it plans an at-the-market share sale programme of up to $60 billion after new non-voting Class C shares begin trading, which it expects in the first quarter of 2027.
How Meta says it will raise the money
Together, the offerings and the later share-sale programme account for the up-to-$95 billion equity raise Meta described. The company said chipmakers Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices and Broadcom have expressed interest in purchasing up to $5 billion of Meta’s Class A common stock in the offering.
Meta has stepped up spending on data centres, computing capacity and AI products to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic. It has committed to spend about $825 billion in the future, mainly on data centres, AI-related infrastructure and cloud computing power, according to the figures it disclosed alongside the fundraising plans.
Cash, debt and the latest spending forecast
As of 30 September, Meta said it held $82.45 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities, slightly above long-term debt of $80.92 billion, based on its quarterly filing from last week.
Last week, Meta raised the lower end of its annual spending forecast. It now expects capital expenditure of $135 billion to $145 billion this year, up from a previous range of $130 billion to $145 billion.
Third-quarter results and what comes next
In the third quarter, Meta reported a $2.12 billion cash burn — its first negative free cash flow in more than ten years — compared with a positive $10.63 billion a year earlier. Third-quarter revenue was $64.60 billion, ahead of Wall Street estimates of $63.37 billion. The company projected fourth-quarter revenue of $73 billion to $76 billion.
The next visible step on the equity plan is the expected start of trading in the new Class C shares in the first quarter of 2027, after which Meta said the larger at-the-market sale programme could begin.

Aasan alfaaz mein
Meta ne kaha hai ke woh AI ke liye almost $95 billion tak paise share bech kar ikattha karegi. Is mein pehle roughly $35 billion ke stock offers hain, aur 2027 ke shuru mein Class C shares aane ke baad $60 billion tak aur sale ho sakti hai. Company data centres aur AI par bohot zyada kharch kar rahi hai, aur teesre quarter mein pehli dafa lambay arsay baad cash flow negative hua. Pakistan mein Facebook, Instagram aur WhatsApp ke users ke liye seedha bill nahi badlega, lekin yeh bataata hai ke Meta AI race mein bhari investment jaari rakhegi.
