Grok has put out the first stretch of its Grok AI Odyssey movie project: seven minutes of AI-generated footage now billed as Episode 1 of an Odyssey series. The release follows Elon Musk’s vow, about three months earlier, that Grok would make a full-length, “historically accurate” film version of Homer’s epic.
The short was produced with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker. It is not a finished feature. It is a first public sample of what Grok is calling a series, not a complete cinema release.
What Episode 1 looks and sounds like
People who have watched the clip say some frames can briefly look like real actors on a real sea. The storytelling leans on a long spoken backstory, then on bearded figures delivering stiff dialogue. The narrator uses a British accent common in fantasy games and Hollywood epics.
Critics of the footage argue it still lacks artistry, inspiration and human interest. Individual shots may mimic reality; the sequence as a whole, they say, feels airless, with little momentum or reason to care about anyone on screen. Staying focused through even half of the seven minutes is harder than sitting through Nolan’s nearly three-hour theatrical Odyssey, according to that early viewing response.
Musk’s promise and Nolan’s rival film
Musk had framed Grok’s project as a historically accurate Odyssey and had publicly attacked Christopher Nolan’s casting choices for the studio film. Nolan, who has called himself a techno-sceptic and said the public has strongly rejected AI as a creative tool, built his Odyssey largely with practical filmmaking: a shoot across six countries and a cast and crew of thousands, plus visual effects where needed.
After its July release, Nolan’s film became a major box-office success, with Imax shows selling out for months, and entered awards talk. Grok’s Episode 1 sits in that shadow as a short AI experiment, not a theatrical rival yet.

Aasan alfaaz mein
Grok ne Odyssey ki AI film ka pehla hissa jaari kiya hai. Yeh abhi sirf saat minute ka Episode 1 hai, poori movie nahi. Yeh Wonder Studios aur director Dev Walker ke sath bana hai. Jo log AI video dekhte hain, un ke liye yeh ek naya experiment hai — cinema wali lambi film abhi maujood nahi.
