Gold prices in Pakistan fell sharply on Saturday, with 24-karat gold down Rs10,800 per tola to Rs409,736, according to rates from the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the trade body that publishes local sarafa rates. The move tracked a further slide in the global market, where the ounce price dropped $108 to $3,872.
Ten grams of 24-karat gold were marked Rs9,259 lower at Rs351,282. Silver also eased, falling Rs142 to Rs5,388 per tola. Against Friday’s APGJSA list—Rs420,536 a tola for 24-karat gold, Rs360,541 per 10 grams, and Rs5,530 for silver—the Saturday cut was the largest local move of the two-day slide.
Second big cut in two days
Saturday’s decline followed a Rs5,100 per-tola fall on Friday. On Thursday the rate had held at Rs425,636 a tola. Taken together, 24-karat gold has lost Rs15,900 per tola in two trading days.
The single-day local drop equals about 2.6% of Friday’s price, close to the roughly 2.7% fall in the international rate. Global gold had already slipped under $4,000 an ounce on Friday; Saturday’s $3,872 print moved it further below that mark.
What buyers and holders face at today’s rates
At the new APGJSA level, half a tola of 24-karat gold costs about Rs204,868—around Rs5,400 less than on Friday. One tola is Rs409,736, which is Rs10,800 cheaper than Friday and Rs15,900 cheaper than Thursday. Two tolas come to about Rs819,472, roughly Rs21,600 less than a day earlier.
Gold prices in Pakistan are now Rs32,300 per tola, or about 7.3%, below the October 10 peak of Rs442,036. A purchase of two tolas today would cost about Rs64,600 less than at that peak. Those figures cover pure 24-karat metal only; jewellery buyers still pay making charges, so a shop bill will be higher.
For households that already hold gold as savings, the same moves cut paper value. A family with two tolas has seen that holding fall by about Rs31,800 since Thursday on APGJSA rates alone.
Timeline: what has happened so far
- October 10: 24-karat gold peaked at Rs442,036 per tola.
- Thursday: The rate held steady at Rs425,636 per tola.
- Friday: Gold fell Rs5,100 per tola to Rs420,536; the international ounce slipped under $4,000 to $3,980.
- Saturday: Gold fell another Rs10,800 to Rs409,736; the ounce dropped $108 to $3,872. Silver fell Rs142 to Rs5,388 a tola.
What comes next
The per-tola rate now sits only Rs9,736 above Rs400,000. A move below that round figure remains possible if global prices keep softening. Gold prices in Pakistan usually follow the international market, so the next local change will largely depend on how trading overseas opens when it resumes.
