Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has disconnected four gas meters in Multan after its teams found consumers using illegal gas compressors to inflate pressure, a company spokesperson said on Sunday.
The SNGPL UFG (unaccounted-for gas) control task force carried out the cuts in various areas of Multan during an intensified drive against gas theft and related illegal activity. The spokesperson said the four meters were removed from supply once the compressors were detected.
Door-to-door checks across Multan
During the same operation, team members conducted door-to-door checking of 55 gas consumers in different localities. The visits were meant to inspect meter connections and look for irregularities linked to misuse of the network.
Officials framed the Multan action as part of ongoing enforcement rather than a one-off visit. The focus, they indicated, was both on spotting illegal gas compressors and on checking how meters were connected at homes and businesses already on the system.
Why compressors draw company action
Compressors that artificially raise gas pressure can distort how supply moves through household lines and can support theft or unfair draw on a shared network. SNGPL’s task force treated the devices found in Multan as grounds to disconnect the meters of those consumers.
The company did not name the individual localities beyond saying the four cuts were spread across areas of the city, nor did it publish further case details beyond the compressor finding and the scale of the door-to-door checks.
What SNGPL says comes next
SNGPL officials reiterated that such operations reflect a stated commitment to curb gas theft, protect national gas resources, and keep supply steadier for consumers who follow the rules. They described the goal as smooth, higher-quality, and uninterrupted gas for law-abiding users.
No further figure for fines, arrests, or follow-up reconnections was given in the Sunday briefing. For Multan residents on the network, the immediate public fact is that four meters have already been cut and that inspection teams have been moving through neighbourhoods checking connections.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Multan mein SNGPL ne char gas meter kaat diye hain. Wajah yeh thi ke kuch logon ne illegal gas compressors laga kar pressure barhaya tha. Teams ne 55 consumers ke gharon ke meter check kiye. Seedha matlab yeh hai ke chori ya galat pressure walay connection pakre jane par supply band ho sakti hai.
