Pakistan State Oil grew petroleum volumes by 17.8% year on year in the first quarter of FY27, while the broader fuels market expanded only 7.1%. That outperformance lifted PSO market share in Pakistan by 4.2 percentage points to 45.9%, according to the company’s quarterly disclosure.
Some shorter company summaries circulating online have used different market-share and industry-growth percentages. The fuller quarterly figures put the share at 45.9% after a 4.2-point gain, with industry sales up 7.1%.
Volumes, products and the network
Demand gains were broad. Motor gasoline shipments rose 23.2% to 968,000 metric tonnes. High-speed diesel rose 12.8% to 759,000 tonnes even though national diesel use shrank. Aviation fuel sales were up 15.5%, and the company said it supplied 99.6% of Jet A-1. Lubricant volumes rose 17.4% to 9,970 tonnes.
During strained regional shipping and unsettled international crude prices, the firm brought in 16 product cargoes totalling 756,000 tonnes and took 1.019 million tonnes of petrol and diesel from domestic refineries. It also stewarded Pakistan’s long-term LNG contracts while a supplier declared force majeure, coordinating with the government to protect power and gas users. After the quarter closed, it signed a government-to-government purchase deal with Oman’s OQ Trading to widen sourcing.
Thirty-seven new retail sites took the pump network to 3,727 outlets, described as the country’s largest. Electric-vehicle charging points stood at 16. Operations teams reported no fatalities, no lost-time injuries and no recordable incidents at owned and controlled sites in the quarter.
Profit, leadership comments and diversification
Standalone profit after tax reached Rs25.56 billion, or Rs54.44 per share, compared with Rs9.39 billion and Rs20.00 in the same period a year earlier. Management linked the jump to higher volumes and a stronger product mix, partly offset by higher finance costs. On a consolidated basis, the group’s attributable profit was Rs29.42 billion, or Rs62.66 per share, including Pakistan Refinery Limited.
Board of Management chairman Asif Baigmohamed congratulated staff and shareholders, saying profitability had risen by “several hundred per cent” during the board’s tenure. Chief executive Jawwad Ahmed Cheema said the company grew “at more than twice the pace of the market” while keeping fuel available through a difficult spell for regional supply, and framed energy security as a national duty as well as a commercial task.
Beyond fuels, PSO Renewable Energy and storage investments, plus work on PRL’s upgrade, point to a wider energy mix. The PSO CSR Trust allocated Rs112 million to education, health and community projects. Looking ahead, management said it would keep diversifying supply, hardening logistics and investing in infrastructure and newer energy options.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Pakistan State Oil ne pehli quarter mein petrol aur diesel ki farokht 17.8% barha di, jo market se zyada tez hai. Is wajah se PSO market share in Pakistan 45.9% ho gaya. Company ka faida bhi pehle se bohot zyada raha. Aam logon ke liye yeh is baat ki nishani hai ke pumps aur fuel supply chal rahi rahi, lekin pump ke rate in results se seedha set nahi hote.
