The Pakistan-India World Cup group-stage fixture has drawn about 8.4 million ticket applications, a figure that underlines how fiercely fans want seats for cricket's most watched bilateral contest. Tournament organisers have scheduled the match for October 10, 2027 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, a venue that can hold roughly 34,000 spectators.
Demand far above stadium capacity
With millions of applications and only tens of thousands of places, most applicants will miss out on a ticket. The final of the same tournament, also planned for the Wanderers on November 21, 2027, has attracted nearly eight million applications on its own, showing that the ground's biggest nights are already among the competition's hottest draws.
Hosts, groups and the wider rush
South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly stage the 14-team ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. Across the event, more than 120 million ticket applications have been submitted by around three million people in 193 countries. Organisers say the application window is due to remain open until November 21.
The tournament is set to run from October 2 to November 21, 2027. Australia and India, the finalists of the 2023 edition, are listed to meet in the opening match on October 7. In the group-stage draw, Pakistan have been placed with Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and one side still to qualify. England, South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and another qualifying team make up the second group.
