Total remittances sent through the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) scheme climbed to $14.157 billion by the end of September, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The initiative, which enables non-resident citizens to manage banking and investment operations remotely, saw Roshan Digital Account inflows grow from $13.906 billion reported at the close of August.
Inflows slow slightly in September
Despite the steady increase in cumulative receipts, monthly contributions moderated towards the end of the first quarter. Monthly Roshan Digital Account inflows stood at $251 million in September. This reflects a slight decrease compared to $259 million deposited in August and $282 million received in July.
The Central Bank's framework continues to serve as a conduit for formal foreign currency inflows. The channel facilitates day-to-day transactions, fund transfers, and domestic investments without requiring account holders to travel to Pakistan.
Active accounts near one million mark
Participation among expatriates expanded further during the month. Official statistics show that 9,458 new accounts were registered in September. This expansion raised the total number of accounts opened under the RDA umbrella to 975,602, up from 966,144 recorded in August.
The scheme remains open to millions of Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) as well as Non-Resident Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders seeking a structured platform to maintain financial links with their home country.
