Allama Iqbal Open University formalised a cooperation pact on Tuesday with Britain-based Wiser Minds Education, seeking to strengthen how its learners gain workplace abilities and lift youth employability. Leaders framed the step as bringing distance higher study closer to what employers require.

Papers were completed in Islamabad at the open university's principal site. The Centre for Lifelong Learning, an AIOU unit focused on continuing study, and the UK partner endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding — a written plan for shared activity. Registrar Raja Umer Younis put his name to the text for the university. Dr. Tahir Mahmood endorsed the papers for the British organisation. Vice-chancellor Nasir Mahmood attended the event as chief guest.

What the two sides plan to do

Officials said both organisations will develop updated training courses together, share professional know-how, and start projects that link classroom study with abilities the labour market wants. The arrangement targets continuing study and competence-focused teaching rather than credentials alone.

Speaking at the gathering, Nasir Mahmood said AIOU is looking past traditional degrees. He stressed a dual duty: keep learning within reach, and give learners hands-on abilities that improve their chances of finding work. "Skilled youth are the future of Pakistan," he said. He added that the university is building links inside Pakistan and overseas so graduates can support economic growth.

Voices from the campus event

Dr. Tahir Mahmood described the British firm's worldwide set of training offerings and told attendees that the tie-up should create overseas study routes for AIOU learners.

Faculty of Education dean Prof. Dr Naveed Sultana argued that partnerships of this kind matter for refreshing courses so they fit current social and workplace demands.

Dr. Tooba Saleem, who directs that lifelong-learning centre, said her team already works to close the divide between theory taught in class and abilities needed on the job. She said the new link should let students take training of an international standard and gain exposure beyond Pakistan. She cast that access as another push for youth employability through AIOU programmes.

Aasan alfaaz mein

AIOU ne UK ke Wiser Minds Education ke sath ek naya MoU sign kiya hai. Is se students ko practical skills aur international training milne ki umeed hai. Degree ke sath kaam ke liye tayari behtar hone ka irada hai. Naukri dhoondne walon ke liye yeh ek positive qadam ho sakta hai.
