Officials at New Islamabad International Airport arrested a man who allegedly travelled from Saudi Arabia using a Pakistani passport issued in another person's name. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the federal body that handles such cases, took custody of the suspect after he tried to pass immigration clearance with the document.
How the passenger was identified
Officials said immigration clearance for passengers on a flight from Saudi Arabia was under way when the man presented the passport. Immigration staff became suspicious and carried out further checks. Those checks revealed his real identity as Muhammad Arsalan, who belongs to Narowal.
Case registered and investigation continues
The suspect was handed over to the FIA's Anti-Human Smuggling Cell in Islamabad. A case has been registered against him for using travel documents belonging to another person and for forgery. Officials said the investigation is continuing, and the arrest at Islamabad airport remains under inquiry.
Immigration checks at any airport are meant to match the person at the counter with the identity printed in the passport they hand over.
