The latest Karachi University Road update is that the Sindh government has decided to reopen a U-turn on the corridor to ease travel for commuters while work continues on the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project—a dedicated bus corridor with faster, separated lanes.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. Officials also reviewed arrangements for routes that will serve recently arrived double-decker and electric buses in the city.

Why the U-turn is being restored

Memon said reopening the Red Line BRT U-turn on University Road would give commuters greater convenience. Construction on the corridor has constrained movement, and restoring the turning point is meant to reduce that pressure without stopping the project.

He directed officials to take extraordinary measures so the Red Line is completed on time. In the same Karachi University Road update discussion, he linked short-term traffic relief with keeping the wider build on schedule.

New buses and where they should run

At the meeting, Memon told officials to finalise suitable routes for the new buses. He said he hoped another batch of double-decker and electric buses would arrive in Karachi later this month.

He also called for comprehensive planning of operations and services. The buses, he stressed, should run where residents need public transport the most, rather than only on easier or already well-served stretches.

Bridge works and daily oversight

Beyond the University Road U-turn, the senior minister ordered early completion of the remaining construction on the second section of the Taj Haider Bridge. He instructed officials to monitor construction activities every day.

Together, the instructions cover both immediate relief for drivers on University Road and closer day-to-day supervision of related Red Line and bridge works still under way.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Sindh government ne Karachi ki University Road par ek U-turn dobara kholne ka faisla kiya hai. Yeh Red Line BRT ki tameer ke dauran logon ki aamad-o-raft ko asaan karne ke liye hai. Naye double-decker aur electric buses ke routes bhi set kiye ja rahe hain. Commuters ke liye short route milne ki umeed hai jab U-turn khul jaye.
