Jazz recorded the strongest network performance in a test that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) ran across Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Thursday. The regulator's survey measured network speed, voice call consistency and overall user experience, and Jazz led on all three. Every operator showed some improvement, but Jazz's peak download speed reached 650 Mbps during the drive tests.
The PTA is the country's telecom regulator, and the exercise combined two kinds of measurement. Quality of Experience (QoE) looks at how a service feels to the person using it, while Quality of Service (QoS) checks technical network performance. The PTA's Quality of Experience survey was led by PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman, and senior PTA members and officials attended. Representatives of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, mobile operators and the media also took part.
How the test was run
Three teams worked in parallel along set routes, including the new Islamabad International Airport, T-Chowk, Murree Road through Faizabad, Rawal Road, the old airport area, Srinagar Highway, Constitution Avenue and Club Road. While moving between points, officials and media representatives made live voice calls and used mobile data, so the results reflect everyday use rather than a single fixed spot. Testers looked at download speed, call stability, data connectivity and how consistent the service stayed. Intercity calls were also placed to check whether voice connections held up across networks.
PTA said the first results were strong and reflected better quality and reliability across the areas tested. The regulator added that the exercise also aimed to find service gaps that still need work. It followed an earlier, shorter network performance survey.
Jazz's network investments
Jazz's results come alongside continued work on its 4G network, wider 5G coverage and more efficient use of radio spectrum, the airwaves that carry mobile signals. The 700 MHz band has been an especially important factor in the improved performance, because lower-frequency bands can cover wider areas and provide stronger indoor connectivity than higher-frequency bands. Jazz was the only operator to acquire 700 MHz spectrum in Pakistan's latest spectrum auction, the process through which operators win the rights to use these airwaves.
The company has also expanded its 5G network, with 1,237 sites now operational nationwide. These include 126 sites in Islamabad and 64 in Rawalpindi, along with deployments in Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar and other cities.
Because PTA called these results initial and said the survey also aims to identify gaps, the full picture of network quality in the twin cities is still taking shape.
Aasan alfaaz mein
PTA ne Islamabad aur Rawalpindi mein mobile network ka test kiya, jis mein Jazz speed, voice call aur overall experience mein aage raha. Is test mein peak download speed 650 Mbps tak pohanchi. Yeh shuru ke nataij hain, is liye aap ke apne area mein signal bilkul aisa hi ho, zaroori nahi.
