Security forces shot down five drones in Balochistan on Friday before the aircraft could strike a security check-post, security sources said, reporting no deaths or damage to property.

According to the sources, militants tried to hit a check-post in the Albat area of Kharan district. The forces acted quickly and destroyed all five drones while they were still short of the intended target, the sources said.

What security sources said about the attempt

Security sources described the episode as an attempted attack by a group they call Fitna al-Hindustan, which they characterised as an Indian proxy. That claim comes from those sources and has not been independently detailed in the material available for this story.

They stressed that the response prevented the drones from reaching the check-post and that neither lives nor property were lost in the incident.

Earlier drone interceptions and air defence

The same sources pointed to a separate case last month, when Pakistan shot down eight drones after they entered the country’s airspace from Afghanistan. They said the armed forces’ air defence system detected those aircraft in time and intercepted them, stopping the intrusion.

They also said the air defence network along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, run by the Pakistan Air Force, stays on duty around the clock and remains fully operational.

Cross-border pressure in Balochistan and beyond

Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in cross-border militant violence, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly asked Kabul to stop its territory being used for attacks inside Pakistan and argues that Afghan authorities have not acted firmly enough against the groups responsible—an assessment Kabul has rejected.

Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February 2026, months after the two sides agreed a ceasefire in October 2025 following clashes at several border points. Talks have continued, but the two capitals have not settled their dispute, and militant activity from Afghan soil remains a central disagreement.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Balochistan ke Kharan district mein security forces ne paanch drones gira diye. Yeh drones ek check-post ko nishana banana chahte thay, lekin pehle hi khatam ho gaye. Koi jaan ya maal ka nuqsan nahi hua. Ye waqia batata hai ke border ke qareeb drone khatre ab bhi maujood hain.
