Iran’s top military commander has set out five conditions that Tehran says are needed for lasting regional security, tying that demand to Iran’s role over the Strait of Hormuz.

Major General Ali Abdollahi, chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces and commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, was quoted by state broadcaster IRIB. He said Iran had emerged as a “fourth centre of global power” because it controls the Strait of Hormuz and can shape the rules for access to that waterway, a narrow sea passage through which much of the world’s oil trade moves.

Five conditions listed by Tehran

Abdollahi described five steps as essential. The first is ending wars on all fronts, especially in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, while rejecting negotiations conducted under military threats.

The second is the complete lifting of sanctions against Iran and the release of frozen Iranian assets. The third seeks compensation for damage from what he called the US-Israeli war on Iran, and from the 12-day war with Israel last year.

Hormuz and regional security arrangements

The fourth condition is recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and replacement of the US-led security framework with what Abdollahi called a “Hormuz mechanism”. The fifth seeks guarantees against renewed military attacks and security arrangements led by countries in the region.

Taken together, the demands link an end to nearby conflicts, economic relief for Iran, payment for wartime damage, and a shift away from a US-led maritime security model toward one Tehran says should be run by regional states.

What officials have not settled

Abdollahi’s remarks present Iran’s stated requirements; they do not, on their own, confirm any agreement with the United States, Israel or other governments. Whether other capitals accept the five points, the proposed Hormuz mechanism, or the compensation claim remains outside what has been reported from his comments.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Iran ke top military commander ne kaha hai ke region mein lasting aman ke liye paanch shartein hain. Un mein Gaza aur Lebanon ke jangon ka khatma, sanctions hataana aur Hormuz Strait par Iran ki soverenity maanna shamil hai. Yeh batain abhi Iran ke mauqaf ki hain, kisi deal ki khabar nahi. Pakistani readers ke liye yeh is liye ahem hai ke Hormuz se oil trade guzarta hai, jo fuel ke rates se judi hui hain.
