A surveillance drone crashed into the outer wall of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) headquarters in Lahore late Saturday night, raising alarm among staff at the facility.
Police said the incident occurred at about 12:30am. Officers reported that the device came toward the headquarters from the direction of Jallo Mor, struck the outer wall, and then fell to the ground.
What police found at the scene
Officials described the craft as a sophisticated surveillance device and said it appeared to have been used to watch the CTD premises. Security personnel recovered it and took it into custody. When it was found, its cameras and battery lights were still working.
The bomb disposal squad later examined the drone and declared it safe. That check was meant to rule out any explosive risk before further handling of the device.
Probe and police complaint
Police suspected that unidentified individuals had steered the drone toward the CTD headquarters with alleged terrorist intentions. Authorities said the matter was being examined from every possible angle.
Separately, the security team at the CTD headquarters submitted an application to Harbanspura Police Station, asking for legal action over the incident. No further public detail was given on who may have operated the drone or how far the investigation has progressed.
