The Punjab Women Development Department has opened registration for the She Threads programme, offering women free three-month vocational training and a Rs15,000 monthly stipend for eligible participants. Training takes place at textile mills in Lahore and Faisalabad, with seats limited.
What the programme offers
Selected women train as industrial sewing machine operators or apparel supervisors through practical work and classroom instruction. The course is free; the stipend also covers transport. Completers get help finding jobs in the textile and garment sector. The department aims to train 2,500 women by June 2027; 1,150 completed training in fiscal year 2025–26.
Where to register
On-site registration is open at Shahkam Industries Limited on Defence Road near Multan Road in Lahore, and at Masood Textile Mills on Sheikhupura–Faisalabad Road in Faisalabad. Applicants should bring their original CNIC and domicile certificate. The programme is run with the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF).
Who can apply
Eligible applicants are generally women aged 18 to 45, often from rural or less-developed areas of Punjab. Earlier announcements set a minimum of Middle school education. Candidates must not already be associated with the factory where they apply, and should confirm current course seats and rules at the centre before registering.
