UHS Syndicate Cuts Allied Health Entry Mark From 60% to 50%

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has eased entry to its four-year BS Allied Health Sciences degrees by cutting the minimum Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC, intermediate) marks requirement from 60% to 50%. For anyone following UHS Allied Health Sciences admission 2026, that is the central change: a lower academic floor that could open these programmes to more applicants, while other admission rules still apply.

What the Syndicate decided

The revised threshold was approved at UHS’s 96th Syndicate meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (R) Prof. Dr. Sohail Sabir. The university said the move follows Higher Education Commission (HEC) — Pakistan’s higher-education regulator — policy. Under the new rule, candidates who score at least 50% in HSSC meet the minimum marks bar for these BS Allied Health Sciences programmes, provided they also satisfy any other requirements UHS sets for admission.

UHS has not given an implementation date for the lower HSSC cut-off. Until that is clarified, applicants should treat the 50% floor as approved policy whose start date is still to be confirmed.

Other approvals at the same meeting

Beyond the Allied Health change, the Syndicate also amended eligibility criteria for selected MPhil and PhD programmes and revised admission-test requirements. It approved five new PhD programmes in Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, Oral Biology and Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Separately, the meeting cleared 1,100 additional evening seats in BS programmes at 18 public-sector nursing colleges across Punjab. Those seats expand evening study options in nursing education but are distinct from the Allied Health HSSC marks change.

What students should know next

Students weighing UHS Allied Health Sciences admission 2026 should note that a 50% HSSC score is now the published minimum academic bar, not a guarantee of a seat. Merit calculation, tests, documents and any programme-specific rules remain part of UHS admission criteria. Anyone between the old 60% and new 50% mark may newly clear the marks threshold once the policy is in force, but they must still complete the full application process when UHS opens admissions.

Families should watch official UHS notices for the effective date, seat lists and any further detail on tests or eligibility for postgraduate programmes mentioned by the Syndicate.

Aasan alfaaz mein

UHS Lahore ne Allied Health Sciences ke BS programmes ke liye intermediate (HSSC) ke marks ki had 60 se gira kar 50 percent kar di hai. Ab kam marks wale students bhi is had tak apply karne ke qabil ho sakte hain, lekin baqi sharaait ab bhi lagi rehengi. University ne abhi yeh nahi bataya ke naya rule kab se lagu hoga. Nursing colleges mein shaam ke 1,100 extra BS seats bhi approve hue hain, jo alag faisla hai.
