What was agreed in Islamabad
Senior officials from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia held talks in Islamabad on Thursday, 29 October 2026, aimed at widening joint work across several economic and social fields. Federal Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Minister Dr Musadik Masood Malik hosted Saudi Ambassador Dr Rajeh Tami Albugamy at the ministry.
The discussion covered energy, industry, higher learning, digital know-how, enterprise growth and opportunities for young people. The minister argued that long-standing bilateral friendship should now yield concrete projects that help both sides.
Sectors on the table
Officials walked through options for closer work in factories and energy, campus links, technology, commercial development and youth programmes. Malik praised reforms under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, saying Saudi Arabia’s shift on the economy and society offered useful lessons.
He singled out Vision 2030 gains in start-ups, schooling, manufacturing, sports and city planning, naming ventures such as NEOM and the Green Saudi Initiative. In his view, those changes have made it easier to launch businesses and attract capital, while Saudi young people’s interest in enterprise could inform Pakistani policy.
Pakistan’s pitch and Riyadh’s reply
Malik said Pakistan brings abundant natural assets, a useful location, seaports, mineral deposits and a large young population. Turning that into lasting growth, he added, will need a clear plan, steady delivery, and spending on technology and skills.
The ambassador replied that the Kingdom wants deeper partnership with Pakistan and is prepared to help advance work in key areas. He stressed the value of building highly skilled people—an emphasis that fits the youth and education themes raised in the meeting.
No fresh loan figures, project budgets or signed contracts were set out in the account of the talks. What is clear is a shared interest in moving from goodwill to practical cooperation in energy and related fields, alongside industry, technology and education.
