What officials said

A weather warning for Karachi today centres on uneven heat between daylight hours and nightfall. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD — the national weather service) said through its Karachi Early Warning Centre that those swings can unsettle human health and livestock. Officials urged residents to look after themselves and shield animals while hot, arid conditions linger over Sindh.

The same weather advisory for Karachi and the wider province points to dry air overall: nights may feel cooler in upper and central districts, while southern areas stay warmer. The Met Office asked the public to take basic precautions rather than treat the spell as routine summer weather alone.

How hot it got on Thursday

City thermometers eased by 1.1°C yet still hovered near 37°C in Karachi, with moisture in the air down to roughly 20%. That peak sat about 1.8°C above the usual mark for the date. Neighbourhood spots such as Shahrah-e-Faisal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar also touched 37°C, and Jinnah Terminal logged 36.3°C.

Elsewhere in Sindh, Mithi topped the chart at 37.7°C, with Chhor close behind at 37.4°C. Hyderabad city, Tandojam and Thatta each reached 36.5°C. Shaheed Benazirabad hit 36.2°C and Mirpurkhas 36°C. Bin Qasim was 35.5°C; Hyderabad Airport 35°C. Dadu, Badin and Mauripur saw 34.5°C. Moenjodaro, Sakrand, Khairpur and Padidan were around 34°C. Sukkur and Rohri recorded 33.5°C, and Larkana 32.5°C.

Weekend outlook for the city

Forecasters expect the heat-and-dry pattern to stretch through Friday and Saturday. For Karachi they project daytime peaks between 35°C and 37°C and overnight lows between 21°C and 23°C. Morning humidity may sit near 30–40%, then ease toward 20–30% by evening. That spread between afternoon warmth and cooler nights is the core of the current weather warning for Karachi today, repeated across two further days of similar readings.
