Religious scholars, spiritual leaders and representatives of different faiths have unanimously reaffirmed a decree against terrorism, suicide attacks and extremism, placing terrorism in Islamic perspective firmly outside the faith. Meeting in Islamabad, they also fully endorsed the national narrative of Paigham-i-Pakistan.

Who met and where

The declaration came from a joint sitting of the National Paigham-i-Amn Committee and the Balochistan Provincial Paigham-i-Amn Committee at Jamia Salafia Dawat-ul-Haq. Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and coordinator of the national committee, chaired the session.

Participants said no person or group may use religion, sect or ideology to attack the state or take the law into their own hands. In their reading of terrorism in Islamic perspective, suicide bombings and the killing of innocent people are forbidden.

What the decree condemns

The gathering strongly condemned the exploitation of women, children, students and young people for terrorist activity. Those acts were described as religiously forbidden and as crimes against humanity.

The declaration also voiced support for national security institutions against Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan—labels used in the statement for militant threats—and said protecting national security and ending terrorism are shared duties.

Harmony, Balochistan and the young

Peace in Balochistan, they stressed, is essential for Pakistan’s stability. They pledged to advance interfaith and inter-sectarian harmony, religious tolerance and national unity, and to shield young people from extremist ideas, hate propaganda and terrorist organisations. Framing extremism and terrorism in Islam as rejected by scholars, they tied that stance to everyday peace and social cohesion.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Ulema aur mukhtalif mazhab ke numaindon ne Islamabad mein mil kar kaha ke dehshat gardi aur khudkush hamle Islam mein mana hain. Kisi ko mazhab ke naam par qanoon haath mein lene ya riyasat par hamla karne ka haq nahi. Aurton, bachchon aur talib ilman ko dehshat gardi ke liye istemal karna bhi mana aur insaniat ke khilaf jurm bataya gaya. Ye fatwa Paigham-i-Pakistan ke sath hai, taake log aman se jee saken aur naujawan ghalat nazriyat se bach sakein.
