Hub Power Company (HUBCO) plans to begin local complete knock-down (CKD) assembly of BYD vehicles in Pakistan from December 2026, with the Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV)—a model that can draw on both battery power and petrol—as its first locally built car. That calendar is the main near-term signal for buyers watching the BYD Sealion 6 Pakistan price and when showroom stock may shift from fully imported units to locally assembled ones, HUBCO’s management told an analyst briefing on Tuesday.
Local CKD from December 2026
Management said growth in the electric-mobility business should strengthen once local CKD production starts, targeted for December 2026, and named the Sealion 6 PHEV as the first model to be assembled in the country. CKD means vehicles are put together in Pakistan from kits rather than arriving as finished imports.
The company is also assessing further models, especially in the higher-volume B and C passenger segments. In the timing discussed with analysts, the Sealion 6, B8 and B5 are expected around the end of calendar year 2026.
Karachi plant, capacity and sales so far
The plant near Karachi is a partnership between Chinese automaker BYD and Mega Motor Company (Private) Limited (MMC). MMC is responsible for manufacturing, marketing and distributing BYD-branded passenger electric vehicles in Pakistan. HUBCO is MMC’s parent and has also indicated interest in charging infrastructure as an extension of its power-plant footprint.
Initial capacity is set at 25,000 units a year on a double shift, with the ability to scale to 50,000 units a year. Cumulative BYD sales have already exceeded 10,000 units. In the first quarter of FY27, the electric-mobility business recorded profit of about Rs1.5 billion, of which HUBCO’s share was Rs780 million, according to figures relayed after the briefing by brokerage Arif Habib Limited, which attended the session.

Partnership path since market entry

Ltd., later clarifying the link through Hub Power Holdings—a wholly owned HUBCO subsidiary—and associated company Mega Motor Company. Local assembly is the next industrial step after that market entry and the sales run recorded so far.
