Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has told the Pakistan Stock Exchange that it has not put equity into a three-wheeler manufacturing and assembly plant in the Philippines. In a clarification filed on November 2, the listed company said the facility was set up by its distributor, which will build and assemble Sazgar three-wheelers with support and technical assistance from the Pakistani firm.
The statement followed social-media claims that Sazgar itself had launched or was launching a manufacturing project in the Philippines. The company drew a clear line between helping a distributor’s plant and owning a stake in it.
What the PSX clarification said
According to the filing, the distributor established the plant to manufacture and assemble Sazgar’s three-wheelers. Sazgar’s role, the company said, is support and technical assistance rather than an equity investment in the facility.
Sazgar also said it expects the arrangement to strengthen its three-wheeler exports and widen its reach in international markets. It plans to export completely knocked-down (CKD) kits—vehicle parts shipped for local assembly—to the Philippines. Those shipments, the company said, should add to Pakistan’s foreign exchange earnings.
Future overseas investments
Sazgar stated that if it later decides on an equity investment in the Philippines or in another overseas manufacturing project, it will disclose that decision to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the country’s market regulator, under applicable laws and disclosure rules.
The clarification therefore separates current technical and commercial support for a distributor-owned plant from any future capital commitment the board might approve and report.
What this means for the export story
For investors and industry watchers, the filing confirms overseas assembly activity without confirming a Sazgar-owned factory abroad. The near-term path described is export of CKD kits from Pakistan, with local manufacture and assembly handled by the Philippine distributor under Sazgar’s technical backing.
That model can still expand Sazgar’s three-wheeler footprint abroad while keeping ownership of the plant with the distributor, based on what the company told the exchange.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Sazgar ne PSX ko bataya ke Philippines mein three-wheeler ka plant us ka nahi, distributor ka hai. Company ne wahan equity investment nahi ki. Sazgar technical madad degi aur Pakistan se CKD kits bhejegi. Agar baad mein khud investment karegi to PSX aur SECP ko batayegi.
