Germany has opened applications for the Germany CrossCulture Fellowship 2027, giving Pakistani professionals and volunteers a chance to spend two to three months with host organisations, build skills and expand international networks. The Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa)—Germany’s institute for international cultural relations—offers the fellowship with support from the German Federal Foreign Office, subject to funding approval.
According to the official announcement, the CrossCulture Program (CCP) places about 50 to 60 professionals and volunteers from more than 40 countries each year. Fellows work with organisations in Germany or other participating countries, take part in intercultural workshops and networking events, and are expected to carry new skills back to their own organisations and communities.
Who can apply from Pakistan
Pakistani candidates must be at least 23 years old when they submit an application and must show at least two years of professional or volunteer experience in a civil society organisation at home. They need a good command of written and spoken English, which is the main working language of the fellowship, and must be able to undertake an extended stay abroad.
ifa gives preference to people with long-term social or community involvement, relevant professional experience, or existing or planned cooperation with organisations in the host country. Knowledge of German or other languages can strengthen an application, but German is not required. Eligible fields include policy and society, media and culture, human rights and peace, and sustainable development and climate justice. For 2027 the programme has added Democratic Resilience as a special focus area.
Pakistan is on the eligible-country list alongside several others in South Asia, Southeast Asia and North Africa and the Middle East, including Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Thailand. Applicants must meet the nationality or residency rules set by the fellowship; the full country list is on the official ifa site.
Funding, format and what fellows receive
International participants receive a monthly stipend of €650, plus accommodation, round-trip airfare, health insurance and other benefits. The 2027 round is planned mainly as an in-person Germany professional fellowship, though ifa may allow digital participation in individual cases depending on circumstances and travel rules.
The programme’s stated aim is to strengthen civil society cooperation by linking professionals and volunteers across borders so they can exchange knowledge and approaches to community development.
How to apply before the deadline
Eligible applicants must apply online through the official CCP portal at applications-ccp.ifa.de/job-offers, choose the relevant country-specific fellowship announcement, complete the form and upload supporting documents. Required materials include an updated English CV covering education, work, volunteering and skills, and a recommendation letter from the home organisation or workplace—preferably from a supervisor—using ifa’s official template. A recent photograph may be uploaded but is optional.
The portal does not let applicants save unfinished drafts, so documents should be ready before starting. ifa has said candidates must complete applications personally and without using artificial intelligence. Incomplete files, email submissions and applications after the deadline will not be accepted. Pakistani candidates must submit by 8 December 2026.
