More study visas for Pakistani applicants

Germany has increased the number of student visas it issues to Pakistani applicants, German Ambassador Dr Ina Lepel said on Monday, as demand for higher education in Germany keeps growing. She spoke to journalists at the National Press Club (NPC) during its international outreach programme, “Meet the Press.”

Lepel said Germany remains a preferred destination for Pakistani students because of its universities, research openings and a welcoming academic setting. She also noted that the rise in applications can slow processing, and that the German mission is trying to simplify procedures and work more efficiently.

Trade and investment still lag

Beyond education, the ambassador pressed for stronger economic and trade links. She said bilateral trade had not grown as hoped despite long ties between the two countries.

“I served in Pakistan in 2017 and have now returned as ambassador, but unfortunately there has not been significant improvement in bilateral trade volume,” she said. Both sides, she added, still have substantial economic potential and should expand trade, investment and commercial cooperation for mutual benefit.

Regional diplomacy praised

On regional affairs, Lepel praised Pakistan’s efforts to ease tensions, especially during the recent standoff between the United States and Iran. She commended Islamabad’s diplomatic steps to encourage dialogue and limit further instability.

For families planning study abroad, the practical takeaway is that Germany is admitting more Pakistani students than before, even as high demand may still mean waits—and that officials say they are trying to make the process smoother.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Germany ne Pakistani students ke liye zyada student visas dena shuru kiya hai. Ambassador Ina Lepel ne kaha ke Germany mein padhai ki demand barh rahi hai, is liye kabhi process mein der bhi hoti hai. German mission procedures asaan aur tez karne ki koshish kar raha hai. Jo log Germany jaana chahte hain, un ke liye mauqa barha hai, lekin apply karte waqt delay ka imkaan zehan mein rakhna chahiye.
