What happened on Bosan Road
A Bosan Road Multan accident early on Monday killed five men in their 20s, Rescue 1122 said. The men were in a Toyota Corolla that, the rescue service said, was being driven at speed when it hit a road divider. The car then crashed into the wall of a nearby plot and caught fire, and all five occupants died at the scene.
The police report puts the crash at around 4am, and a passerby alerted the control room at 4:15am. Rescue 1122 said all five men were residents of Shujaabad. Firefighters brought the fire under control after the mishap.
Victims and the rescue response
Rescue 1122 identified three of the men as 22, 23 and 28 years old. The ages of the other two were estimated at around 24 or 25, the service said. All five men killed in the Bosan Road Multan accident had head injuries.
Rescue personnel moved the bodies to Nishtar Hospital in Multan, the service said.
Wider road safety figures and open questions
Rescue 1122 also reported figures for May across Punjab: 43,160 road traffic crashes, 23,013 serious injuries and 434 deaths. The rescue department's secretary had expressed concern about the large number of road accidents. These numbers cover the whole province, not Multan alone.
The statements so far do not confirm what led to the crash beyond the speed the rescue service described. Further official details on the Bosan Road Multan accident, including its cause, have not yet been released.
