The Manawan murder case has been solved, Lahore police said, after officers arrested two main suspects, an uncle and nephew. Police allege the pair killed Robin Masih, whose headless body was discovered in fields in Manawan, Lahore. Both men are accused in connection with the killing, and the allegations have not yet been tested in court.
Police account of the killing
A police spokesperson said the suspects attacked Masih with knives over what police described as an alleged honour-related dispute. After the killing, they left the body in open fields and fled, the spokesperson said. Police said the dispute had roots in a marriage: Masih had wed the prime suspect's mother roughly 16 to 17 years earlier, and investigators believe that tie allegedly fed into the murder.
Special team and arrests
Zeeshan Raza, the Deputy Inspector General for investigation, set up a special team to trace the suspects. Asim Iftikhar Kamboh, the SP Investigation for Cantt, supervised the operation. A team led by Sajjad Ahmad Goraya, DSP Investigation Baghbanpura, made the arrests using routine investigative work and human sources, the spokesperson added.
What happens next
Raza said a full challan, the formal police report that goes before a court, will be prepared so the two suspects can be prosecuted under the law. He warned that lawbreakers would face strict action. Separately, SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed announced commendation certificates for the police team, recognising its work on the Manawan murder case.
