Pakistani security forces have killed four militants in Balochistan and recovered weapons and ammunition after an intelligence-based operation, the military said on Monday. In a separate action in the same province, an army major was killed when an improvised explosive device struck his unit.

Kalat operation on 18 October

The first action took place on 18 October in the Jattakabad area of Kalat district. According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)—the military’s media wing—forces moved against militant positions and, after an intense exchange of fire, killed four militants.

ISPR said a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site. The military described the action as intelligence-based, meaning it was launched on specific tip-offs rather than as a general sweep.

Major killed near Pasni in Gwadar

In a separate incident, security forces carried out clearance operations in the Shadi Kaur area of Pasni tehsil in Gwadar district. During those operations, an improvised explosive device—often called an IED, a homemade bomb planted to target patrols—hit a leading force component.

The blast killed a major of the Pakistan Army who was leading the unit, ISPR said. The statement did not name the officer or give further casualty details from that site.

What officials have confirmed

Both accounts rest on the military’s Monday statement. No independent confirmation of militant identities or group affiliation was included in the material available, and no further official follow-up on the Gwadar blast was cited beyond the major’s death.

Balochistan has long faced armed violence and security operations; this report covers only the two incidents ISPR described.
