Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir has ordered departments and contractors to complete ongoing development projects without unnecessary delay, warning that slipping timelines will not be accepted. He gave the directions while chairing a progress review of district development schemes on October 29.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Social Services) Fazail Mudassar and other officials attended. The briefing covered fund allocation, tendering status and how far construction had advanced.

Schemes, approvals and available funds

Officials told the meeting that 21 development schemes had been identified in the district, with an estimated cost of more than Rs6.52 billion. Of those, 18 schemes have been approved. Funds of Rs7.50 billion are available for the work. The DC stressed effective use of that money and prompt completion of tendering and other administrative steps so projects are not held up on paper.

City roads, drainage and tehsil links

The review looked at construction and rehabilitation on major city roads and at drainage improvements. Corridors named in the meeting included Khayaban-e-Sir Syed Road, Bokra Road, Fifth Road, Rawal Road, the stretch from Chandni Chowk to Commercial Market, Railway Workshop Road, the road from China Market to Gordon College, 4-B Road and Band Khana Road.

Progress on connecting roads in Taxila, Kallar Syedan, Gujar Khan and Kahuta was also discussed, extending the focus beyond the city centre to surrounding tehsils.

Monitoring, quality and next steps

Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir directed officers to keep regular watch on site work and to finish projects within set timelines without lowering construction standards. Departments were told to clear bottlenecks through mutual coordination and to submit regular progress reports. He said the aim is better road infrastructure and improved travel facilities for the public.

Aasan alfaaz mein

District mein 21 munsoobe hain jinki qeemat 6.52 arab rupay se zyada batayi gayi hai, aur un mein se 18 approve ho chuke hain.
