Fake Apple-style sites target new phone buyers, firm says

Kaspersky says cybercrime in Pakistan includes fake phone-store pages that copy Apple's look, push a 25% discount, and ask for contact details before payment.

Kaspersky, a Russian cybersecurity company, has warned Pakistanis after detecting scam attempts aimed at people shopping for new mobile phones and other premium devices. The firm said the activity forms part of a wider pattern that also matters for cybercrime in Pakistan, with fake storefronts built to look trustworthy and to rush buyers into sharing personal information.

How the fake phone deals work

In a statement on Wednesday, Kaspersky described an English-language website that advertised what it claimed was a 25 percent discount. The design closely echoed Apple's visual style. A countdown timer said only 30 minutes remained, creating a false sense of urgency and pushing visitors toward quick decisions.

At checkout, users were asked for contact details and a shipping address. The page did not request card information at that stage. Instead, it said a manager would contact the customer later to confirm delivery and payment. Kaspersky said this kind of setup often serves as the opening move in a fraudulent scheme that can lead to financial loss.

Multilingual sites and fake preorders

The company said such offers are not limited to English-speaking audiences. It also identified multilingual pages where visitors could choose a language, browse claimed features of a new device, place a preorder, and select a currency. To appear credible, some sites suggested the user would be redirected to Apple's official website. Kaspersky said that redirection does not actually take place.

Staying safer amid cybercrime in Pakistan

Kaspersky recommended that people buy new products only through official and reputable stores. For anyone watching cybercrime in Pakistan alongside a wider online fraud alert about phone bargains, the practical tests are simple: treat sudden deep discounts, ticking clocks, and requests for personal data before payment as warning signs, not exclusive deals.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Kaspersky ne Pakistanis ko bataya hai ke naye phone ke saste offers aksar jhooti websites hoti hain. Ye sites Apple jaisi dikhti hain aur 25 percent discount dikha kar jaldi kharidari karwati hain. Pehle aapka number aur address maanga jata hai, baad mein payment ki baat hoti hai. Naya device sirf official ya bhale store se len, warna paise aur personal maloomat dono khatre mein ho sakte hain.
