SoundCloud has added an integration with ElevenLabs, so users can publish music made with ElevenLabs music AI straight to the streaming platform. Until now, they had to export and download each output from ElevenLabs before uploading it to SoundCloud. Songs published this way will be labelled to show that they were made with AI.
What changes for creators
The new link removes the download-and-upload step, so ElevenLabs music AI outputs can move to SoundCloud in one go. As part of the partnership, SoundCloud Artist Pro subscribers are receiving three months of ElevenMusic Pro at no cost, giving them time to test generative AI tools. The announcement did not say what ElevenMusic Pro will cost once the free period ends.
How it compares with the Moises partnership
SoundCloud earlier this year partnered with Moises, another AI music platform, and that tie-up goes further. Users can pull tracks from SoundCloud into Moises for stem separation, which splits a song into parts such as vocals and drums, and then remix them and republish them to SoundCloud. The ElevenLabs integration is narrower, because it focuses on sending new AI outputs to the platform.
SoundCloud's approach to AI-generated music
SoundCloud has been more willing than some other streaming services to work with AI-generated music. It encourages users who are subject to EU rules to label tracks as 'AI-generated or manipulated', and it has rules against impersonation. It has also partnered with several generative AI music platforms without publicising large removal counts of spammy AI songs.
