Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik has announced that the government will soon crack down on sellers charging inflated rates for gas. Speaking to the media, he said the Rs600–700 per kg being charged for gas is wrong and that enforcement action is coming.
What the minister said on gas and fuel supply
Ali Pervez Malik told reporters that Pakistan does not face a fuel shortage. He said the gas needed for November is already available, and that arrangements are being made to ensure supply for December and January as well.
The minister’s remarks focus on retail overcharging rather than a formal nationwide tariff change. He did not set a new official price in the comments summarised here; he described the Rs600–700 per kg level now being taken from buyers as incorrect and said a crackdown would follow soon.
Petrol hike averted on prime minister’s order
Separately, the minister said petrol had been due to rise by Rs15 per litre on Friday. On the prime minister’s instruction, that burden was taken on by oil refineries instead of being passed to the pump.
He also said that prices in the global market have been falling, and that the effect of that trend would be felt in local prices the same day he spoke.
What happens next
A crackdown on costly gas sales is expected soon, according to the minister, while winter supply planning for December and January continues. Consumers will also watch whether the global price decline he cited shows up clearly in domestic fuel rates after the Friday petrol increase was held back.
Aasan alfaaz mein
Wazir Ali Pervez Malik ne kaha hai ke jo log gas 600 se 700 rupay kilo le rahe hain, yeh galat hai aur un par jald action hoga. Unhone kaha ke mulk mein fuel ki kami nahi, November ki gas maujood hai aur December-January ke liye bhi bandobast ho raha hai. Jumme ko petrol 15 rupay litre mehnga hona tha, lekin wazir-e-azam ke hukm par oil refineries ne yeh bojh khud uthaya. Agar aap gas ya petrol khareedte hain, to mehngai wali qeemat se bachne ke liye sahi rate aur official update dekhte rahein.
