Easypaisa Aggregator Accounts: ~30 Staff Reportedly Cut

easypaisa Digital Bank has reportedly ended the jobs of about 30 employees over perceived irregularities linked to easypaisa aggregator accounts, according to internal sources familiar with the matter. The exits, if confirmed, would be the first known staff fallout inside the bank from a wider federal crackdown on Pakistan’s mobile wallet ecosystem. The company itself flatly rejects reports of a 30-person termination wave.

Reported exits and how aggregator accounts work

Aggregator accounts act as intermediary channels that process merchant transactions at volume. Sources say several of those channels on the platform became routes for illicit financial flows, and that staff tied to the disputed handling of those accounts were let go.

Separately, earlier findings in the same investigative trail describe how insiders allegedly undermined controls at easypaisa: one suspect is said to have built fake websites to test payment links, a step that allegedly let a syndicate skip compliance checks. Bogus corporate accounts then allegedly connected to offshore gambling platforms, with funds said to have moved through swap accounts at Mobilink Microfinance Bank and onward to Faysal Bank and Dubai Islamic Bank.

Federal probe, merchant strain, and the bank’s denial

The staff reports sit inside a larger case opened when the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) — Pakistan’s federal crime investigators — filed an FIR on 24 September 2026. That case publicly pointed to a Rs119.93 billion online gambling network run through digital wallets. Investigators traced about Rs8.586 billion through five branchless collection accounts that together handled roughly 10.49 million transactions.

The same pressure has hit merchants and payment middlemen. Six payment intermediary firms faced processing delays and settlement trouble, and international processor dLocal said it was looking into related problems. JazzCash closed more than 300 aggregator accounts after FIA notices. JazzCash has not reported firing staff over the same issues, though sources say an internal inquiry is under way there; its scope is not yet clear.

When asked about the claimed dismissals, easypaisa Digital Bank issued a formal denial. It said it “categorically denies reports suggesting termination of 30 employees,” adding that any exits were “part of business as usual pursuant to applicable policies” or were started by staff themselves. As a regulated financial institution, it said it keeps governance, compliance and accountability frameworks and does not comment on individual personnel matters.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Reports ke mutabiq easypaisa ne lagbhag 30 logon ki nokriyan aggregator accounts ke maslay ki wajah se khatam ki hain — bank is baat se inkari hai. Aggregator accounts merchants ke bari payment traffic ko handle karte hain, aur inhin ke zariye illegal paise chalane ka ilzam hai. FIA digital wallets ke through online gambling ke bohot bare case ki investigation kar rahi hai. Aam users ke liye yeh yaad rakhna zaroori hai ke bank deny kar raha hai, lekin merchant payments mein deri aur account closures ka asar pehle se market mein dikh chuka hai.
