Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has rejected speculation that he is preparing a Mohammad Amir IPL 2027 auction entry as a British player. The 34-year-old posted on X on Monday to say the IPL-related news circulating about him is not true.
"Hi everyone just wanted to clarify news regarding IPL is not true," Amir wrote.
Why the rumours started
The clarification followed reports that he was widely expected to put his name forward for the next IPL auction after he entered the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) draft as a British national. Amir has obtained British citizenship. He registered for the APL draft, scheduled for 3 November in Dubai, and was listed in the Platinum category as a UK national, with Pakistan given as his country of residence.
That British passport had prompted talk that he might follow a path similar to former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, who appeared in the IPL for Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders between 2012 and 2015. Pakistani players have not featured in the IPL since the competition’s first season in 2008.
What Amir has said about the IPL before
Amir had earlier left room for a possible IPL appearance. Speaking during The Hundred in August, he said he had not decided whether he would take part in the tournament. His latest message on X has closed down the immediate wave of talk about a planned 2027 auction registration.
While he has denied the current reports, he has not spelled out a permanent no to the IPL. In other words, the Mohammad Amir IPL 2027 auction rumours of the past few days are rejected for now, but a later decision is still an open question on the public record.

Aasan alfaaz mein
Mohammad Amir ne kaha hai ke IPL ke bare mein jo khabar chal rahi thi woh sahi nahi hai. Log keh rahe the ke woh British player bann kar IPL 2027 auction mein aa sakte hain. Unhon ne APL draft ke liye register kiya hai, magar IPL wali afwah ab unhone khud clear kar di. Abhi yeh nahi kaha gaya ke woh kabhi IPL nahi khelenge—bas abhi wali reports unke mutabiq galat hain.
