Peshawar captain Mohammad Rizwan’s double century has left his side firmly in control against Faisalabad after day two of the opening round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2026-27 at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. Rizwan finished unbeaten on 200 off 252 balls, with 35 fours and one six, as Peshawar declared at 503-4 from 115.2 overs on Wednesday.

How Peshawar built a big first-innings total

Peshawar resumed on their overnight 306-3 and pressed on before the declaration. Earlier in the innings they had slipped to 127-3, after which Rizwan and Najab Khan steadied the batting. Najab made 133 off 226 balls, striking 20 fours and one six. Their 179-run stand for the fourth wicket turned a shaky start into a commanding scoreboard.

The Rizwan batting performance was the centrepiece of the day: an unbroken double hundred that allowed the skipper to dictate the pace and pick the moment to declare. For Faisalabad, Asad Raza and Mudasar Zunair were the most successful bowlers, with two wickets each.

Faisalabad’s reply at stumps

In reply, Faisalabad reached 118-2 by the close. Mohammad Adnan removed Faham-ul-Haq for 31 and Sameer Saqif for 25, leaving the visitors with work still to do on day three if they are to erase the large first-innings deficit.

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is Pakistan’s main first-class domestic competition—multi-day regional matches, not limited-overs cricket—so scores in the high hundreds and declarations are part of the format.
