Islamabad’s Sub-National Immunization Days (SNID) polio campaign—short, focused rounds of door-to-door polio vaccination—was inaugurated on Saturday at Golra Station, with health teams preparing to give polio drops to 447,614 children across the capital.
Launch at Golra Station
District Health Officer Islamabad Dr Syeda Rashida Batool accompanied the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad at the inauguration. Officials framed the start of the drive as the beginning of a capital-wide effort to reach every eligible child during the campaign window.
Who will receive the drops
The campaign is aimed at children under five years of age. Teams will move house to house so that polio drops—oral vaccine doses used to protect against poliovirus, the germ that can cause lifelong paralysis—can be given where families live, with the stated goal that no child is missed.
What parents are being asked to do
Parents have been urged to cooperate with vaccination teams and make sure every child under five in their care receives the drops during the campaign. Officials present the effort as protection against a crippling disease, and cooperation at the door is presented as essential to covering the full 447,614-child target in Islamabad.
