Pakistan raised high-speed diesel by Rs2.29 a litre to Rs402.96 while leaving petrol unchanged at Rs377.91 per litre, according to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority notification covering 31 October to 2 November.
High-speed diesel, often called HSD and used mainly by trucks, buses and other commercial vehicles, is the grade that moved. Petrol, the fuel most private cars and motorcycles use, was held at its existing rate for a second straight revision day.
What the new rates are
Diesel will retail at Rs402.96 a litre after the Rs2.29 increase. Petrol stays at Rs377.91 a litre. The prices apply from Saturday 31 October through Monday 2 November.
That split matters for households and businesses in different ways. Motorists who fill petrol tanks see no fresh increase from this round. Operators who run on diesel face a higher cost for every litre they buy.
Why another diesel rise matters
Freight, intercity coaches and many generator or machinery users that run on diesel are the first to feel a litre-by-litre increase. When those costs rise, traders and carriers often pass part of the burden into fares and goods prices over time, though how much and how fast depends on each market.
Taxes and what to watch next
Dawn reported the government still levies about Rs114 a litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 a litre on diesel. Fuel rates in Pakistan are reviewed on a regular cycle, so readers should check the next notified prices for both grades.
