The Sindh College Education Department has announced a Sindh school holiday for Monday, November 9, 2026, closing public and private educational institutions across the province to mark Iqbal Day. An official notification says institutions under the department’s administrative control will stay shut and academic activities will pause for that day.

The move aligns with the federal government’s nationwide public holiday on the same date. The Cabinet Division had already placed Iqbal Day on its annual holiday schedule issued on January 19, 2026.

What the notification covers

The holiday applies to educational institutions operating under the Sindh College Education Department, including both public and private campuses in the province. For one day, teaching and other academic work at those institutions are to be suspended.

Parents and students should treat Monday, November 9, as a full closure day at covered schools and colleges, not a partial timetable. The department’s notice is the basis for the province-wide pause in classes.

Three-day break, then a Tuesday restart

Because the Sindh school holiday falls on a Monday, institutions that already treat Saturdays and Sundays as weekly offs will effectively have a three-day break from November 7 to 9. Regular academic activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, November 10.

Families planning travel or study catch-up can use that window, then return to the normal calendar from November 10. Staff and students at campuses with different weekly offs should follow their own institution’s schedule alongside the provincial notice.
