MoU aims at yields and farmer incomes

Engro Fertilizers and Mari Energies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Islamabad to help farmers raise crop yields and incomes. The pact, dated Oct 27, centres on better access to quality agricultural inputs and more informed, balanced use of nutrients, alongside wider community development work.

An MoU is a formal outline of how two organisations intend to work together; it sets shared goals and a planning frame rather than listing every delivery detail. Officials said the two companies will jointly plan, carry out and review programmes for farmers and for communities near Mari Energies’ areas of operation.

How the companies say they will work together

The collaboration is meant to pair Mari Energies’ experience in community development with Engro Fertilizers’ knowledge of farming practice. On the agricultural side, initiatives will focus on getting quality inputs to farmers and promoting nutrient management that supports productivity and livelihoods.

Beyond the farm gate, the partnership’s scope includes education, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning, vocational training, youth employability, healthcare and environmental sustainability. Sports, cultural and leadership programmes are also listed as part of the same framework.

What company leaders said

Faheem Haider, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mari Energies Limited, said supporting communities around the company’s operating areas has long been a priority. The partnership with Engro Fertilizers, he said, lets Mari Energies build on that work by combining its community development experience with agricultural expertise.

“Together, we aim to help farmers improve productivity and income through quality inputs and balanced nutrient use, while creating greater opportunities for communities through education, youth employability, healthcare and sports,” he said.

The companies said the initiative builds on Mari Energies’ existing efforts in education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods and infrastructure. Through joint planning and programme reviews, they aim for measurable results and a longer-term approach to community development in the areas they serve.
