Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have taken delivery of armored vehicles for KP police operations: eight armoured personnel carriers (APCs)—specially protected vehicles for moving officers—and 10 modern ambulances. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed handed the keys to senior officers from various regions and districts at a ceremony at the Central Police Office in Peshawar. The step is meant to strengthen safety and medical support for personnel during anti-terrorism operations.
What was handed over
The new APC fleet is made up of six Zarb-e-Haider APCs and two Dragon-class APCs. Alongside them, the force received 10 modern ambulances. The IGP inspected the vehicles and was given a detailed briefing on their features and performance before the formal handover.
Where the vehicles will serve
Police officials in Peshawar, Charsadda, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Abbottabad and Shangla were among those who received the vehicles and ambulances. That spread covers both the provincial capital and several districts that routinely face security pressures, putting the new fleet closer to where officers operate day to day.
Why the force says it matters
Speaking at the ceremony, Hameed said the modern APCs would help police personnel move safely during operations and emergencies, and would protect their lives from terrorist attacks. In plain terms, the armored vehicles for KP police are meant to reduce exposure when teams travel into high-risk areas, while the ambulances are intended to speed medical help if officers are hurt.
Officials framed the handover as a practical boost to field capacity rather than a change in overall security policy. No further rollout schedule or cost figures were stated at the event.
