Islamabad court seeks CDA chief personally after show-cause

An Islamabad District and Sessions Court has put fresh pressure on the Capital Development Authority (CDA, the capital’s main civic development body). Through a CDA show cause notice, the bench told the authority’s head to attend the next sitting himself. The CDA Chairman summoned by Islamabad court must explain why a 2000 ruling in a land dispute has still not been carried out in full.

Why the bench acted

Civil Judge Nasiruddin heard the petition listed as Muhammad Rashid against the CDA’s chair. Rashid says the authority took his land in an acquisition drive but never gave him the help its own resettlement and rehabilitation rules were meant to provide. He told the court that earlier judgments supporting him remain only partly applied.

Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem, appearing for him, asked the judge to ensure the old order is applied completely and effectively.

How the dispute reached this point

Rashid won a decree in 2000. The matter later went to the Supreme Court (Pakistan’s highest court), which confirmed the outcome in his favour. He says he is among those hit by CDA land-taking who still await the package promised under resettlement policy.

At an earlier stage of the same dispute, the court had already ordered the chairman’s arrest through warrants. Monday’s step shifts the focus to a written demand that he account for non-compliance and attend in person.

What the court ordered next

After hearing counsel, the judge issued the notice and required the CDA Chairman summoned by Islamabad court to be present at the following hearing. The bench also told concerned officers to see that the decree is put into effect, and linked failure on that duty to legal proceedings.

The case is about enforcement of the 2000 decree, already backed at the highest judicial level, and whether Rashid receives the rehabilitation benefits he says remain unpaid after his land was acquired.

Aasan alfaaz mein

Islamabad ki court ne CDA ke chairman ko notice diya hai. Unhein agli sunwai par khud hazir hona hoga. Yeh mamla 2000 ke zameen wale faisle ko poora karane ka hai. Jo logon ki zameen li gayi ho, unke haqooq courts ab bhi follow up karwa sakti hain.
